Oliver Kochta-Kalleinen will present Speech Karaoke, a project that invites the audience to participate in a real-time collage of speeches. The participants are able to choose their favourite speech from a vast pool – just like a favourite song in traditional karaoke events – and perform it in front of the audience. Each speech is accompanied by a unique karaoke-style silent background video clip and an animated rhythmic text to read from.
The Speech Karaoke Group core members are artists, writers and activists Jenna Jauhiainen, Oliver Kochta-Kalleinen, Carl Sebastian Lindberg, Velda Parkkinen, Pilvari Pirtola, Johanna Raekallio and Julius Valve. The group does not represent a particular political or ideological conviction.
Speech Karaoke was originally conceived for the “I am a socialist-anarchist-individual-collectivist-individualist-communist-cooperative-aristocrat-democrat.” -exhibition project by The Finnish Academy of Fine Arts in 2010.
